Inner Wheel History
Who we are and what we do.
Inner Wheel is one of the largest worldwide voluntary organisations for women, and was formed in 1924 by the wives and womenfolk of Rotarians in Manchester. Its Founder President was Mrs Margarette Golding, and its purpose was to complement the work of Rotary. By 1934 there were 79 Clubs grouped into Districts, which were united into the Association of Inner Wheel Clubs in Great Britain and Ireland.

The Organisation of Inner Wheel
Order! Order!!
Every organisation needs an organisation, and Inner Wheel is no exception. There is no central Politburo, telling individual Clubs what to do and how to do it, but there is a core of volunteers, and a few staff, who provide the links between the Clubs and Districts, and who can help to ensure that we make the most efficient use of our resources. After all, we aim to help others; it would be very sad if we couldn’t help ourselves!

Inner Wheel Membership
Who Can Join And How!
Membership of Inner Wheel used to be limited to the wives of Rotarians, but like
the rest of the world, things evolve. Inner Wheel is still a club for ladies only
